The Africa Trade Foundation
At the Africa Trade Foundation, our mission is to empower the African continent through trade and investment, by connecting regional markets and supporting Africa’s integration in global value chains. Established in 2023 in Mauritius, we are a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing regional and continental trade and investment in Africa and facilitating Africa’s integration into the global economy.
Our Story
Inspired by our Founder’s experience of living and working accross Africa for over three decades, the Africa Trade Foundation brings together dedicated African experts who are personally connected to Africa's trade and investment landscape. Our Council Members bring a wealth of experience and expertise in African trade and investment, from private sector strategies to policy support, cultivated through years of working across the Continent. We share the common belief that trade has the power to transform lives, uplift communities, and contribute to Africa’s prosperity. Our vision is to build a thriving trade and investment ecosystem that benefits all, creating opportunities for investors, businesses, entrepreneurs, and economies across the Continent.
Our Mission

Our Work
Through cutting-edge research and training, our aim is to build bridges within Africa, and between Africa and the rest of the world, and help businesses and investors understand better the opportunities in Africa.
Our focus extends to businesses of all sizes, with particular emphasis on empowering women and youth entrepreneurs to access African markets. We are deeply committed to ensuring that trade and investment are not only economically vibrant but also sustainable and inclusive.
By advocating for fair, sustainable, and inclusive trade and investment policies and engaging with policymakers and stakeholders, our aim is to support the regional and continental trade agenda to unlock Africa's full trade potential.
